Jon has been involved in sport continually from a early age. He started as a very promising middle distance athlete.  He was soon noticed by Steve Ovett, Britain’s 800m Olympic gold medallist; and started training with him at the age of 16.  This experience enabled Jon to progress in his own athletic career, gaining international vests at 800m on the track and joining numerous tours with the team.

Jon spent 2 years working for Steve Ovett's sports clothing business to support his training.  During this time he met Sally Gunnell on a international trip to Australia.  They were only 18 but have stayed together ever since.

Jon has used his own personal running experiences along with experience gained from working along side Olympic Champion and wife Sally Gunnell to build an effective and world renowned coaching philosophy. Throughout Jons 20 years of coaching he has coached numerous athletes to the highest level of the sport combining his ability to understand the individual needs of each athlete and the science behind building an effective training plan.


Dan Stepney

Dan's love of sport goes back to his early childhood.  He's played football, rugby and basketball to a respectable standard.  He was also a junior gymnast.  However his biggest love was athletics.  Dan trained and competed since the age of 10 and was coached by Jon. During this time, he  medalled at regional and national competitions at a junior and senior level.  He finished 7th at the 2012 Olympic Trials over 800m.

Dan has been coaching for over 10 years. During this time he has gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience. He is an assistant coach with PHX TRK. This is an elite group of athletes based in Brighton, which includes some of the world’s best middle distance runners. Dan has also been a British Athletics coach on several GB endurance camps. In 2017 and 2019 he was a member of the holding camp coaching staff for GB’s national team, prior to the respective World Athletics Championships. He has also previously acted as a British Athletics consultant to the Nike+ Run Club, a position he held for 2 years (2015-2017). Currently he is working as part of the British Athletics Futures Academy Programme and the British Athletics Para Futures Academy Programme. This programme helps support and develop the next generation of world-class GB athletes. As well this, Dan also coaches athletes who run recreationally.


Finley Bigg

Finley's passion for sport started from a young age when he began playing football for his local team. His passion for football spanned a number of year when at the age 16  he began his athletics career. Finley achieved his first international vest running the 800m for England. And went on to make the final of the 2018 European athletics trails.

During Finley's running career he developed a passion for science and physiology behind running that enables an individual to achieving maximum performance. So much so, Finley has gone on to turn his passion into a degree in Sports Science and Coaching further sealing his knowledge and experience in the field.
